Jason Squinobal is a saxophonist, composer, creative ethnomusicologist, and professor of music at Virginia Wesleyan University. His music features elements of jazz, electronica, and music from traditional cultures from around the world.

His most recent release is a suite of compositions Five West Africa Rhythms for Akin Euba written for saxophone, vibraphone, marimba, piano, bass, and drums.
His most recent solo album Serendipity features muti-layered saxophone tracks that are interwoven on top of R&B rhythm tracks.
With his band, Trio Atomic, Squinobal explores the use of audio effects and music synthesis applied to the saxophone.
Soundscaping features all analog synthesizers, and is an exploration of complex polyrhythm using Euclid Algorithms and Schillenger's Theory of Rhythm. The compositions are based on the Bagua trigrams of the I Ching

Squinobal's most recent research article, published in the Journal of Jazz Studies, is an analysis of the music of John Coltrane that explores themes of continuity and reevaluates the traditionally excepted stylistic divisions imposed on Coltrane’s performance career.

A Way of Things is an 11 song, song cycle for Mezzo-Soprano and piano. The texts used are selected verses from Lao-Tzu's Tao-Te Ching, this work is yet to be recorded.
Squinobal has a collection of Bob Marley Horn Part Transcriptions from some of his most well known songs to be used as study scores. Horn parts for "Concrete Jungle," "I Shot the Sheriff," "Redemption Song," Three Little Birds," "War & No Trouble" and more!
Squinobal has a deep love and appreciation for African American Spirituals. he has arranged five of his favorites and they are freely offered to anyone who wants to perform them.
